About the Play
"I offer you my heart."
"I'll hold you to that."
Nora and Jim is an original new play by Nora Connolly, written for the Centenary Celebrations of Bloomsday in 2022. The play intricately weaves the enchanting tale of James Joyce and his beloved, Nora Barnacle. Bound by a fervent passion, they depart Dublin on a crisp October evening in 1904. "Nora and Jim" is a tribute to the legendary love between a literary genius and his lifelong muse.
The original European production of Nora and Jim enjoyed a sold out run in Dublin in June 2022, with subsequent performances in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. In November 2022 it was performed upon the invitation of President Michael D Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin, in front of an invited audience of 200 people.
The roots of this US premiere lie in Ireland. With an all-Irish cast and production team, the play is a testimony to the resilience of the Irish spirit and the welcoming of our spirit to foreign shores.
